{"Autism Speaks"}.

Autism is a topic we, as parents, have most likely all become aware of in recent years, as its precedence in our children has been growing every year.  In fact, today, it is estimated that every 1 in 110 children is diagnosed with Autism.  And, that number is increased for boys, whom it is believed are diagnosed with autism at the rate of 1 in every 70.

Autism is generally described as "a group of complex developmental brain disorders known as Pervasive Developmental Disorders (PDD)" (www.autismspeaks.org). The severity and specifics to each person's autism varies widely, and so the group of the varying disorders are often referred to as "Autism Spectrum Disorders."

There are no medical tests to see if someone has autism, either; diagnosis is done by observation and some educational & psychological testing.  For things to look for, visit autismspeaks.org.

A lovely lady I've just recently been in touch with has a son, Micah, with Autism.  She wrote a lovely blog on one of "Adam's Blankie's" special blankies for Micah!  It touched my heart that one of my products is doing so much for one special little boy!  Be sure to check our her blog, "Reaping What I Sow" here!
